A dedicated student of mind and body training, her big loves within this realm are aerial dance and yoga. She has devoted herself to the practice of yoga and over 15 years of teaching experience as a yoga teacher. Mimi has taught extensively locally and abroad, leading a wide range of classes including Ashtanga, hot yoga, vinyasa, barre and aerial yoga.
In 2014, Mimi developed the aerial dance program at National Dance Academy and has since taught weekly aerial classes for ages 8-adult. You can learn more about her aerial silks series for adults through National Dance Academy in Coralville. She also teaches private lessons teen aerial classes.
Mimi is passionate about sharing her experience as a performing and teaching artist. She seeks to foster a warm, non-competitive learning environment that provides the most inclusive instruction to students of all backgrounds and abilities. She believes that aerial can be accessible to anyone who is willing to play and strives to make aerial dance accessible to all bodies.
Mimi is the most down-to-earth, skilled, and approachable aerial instructor ever! It can be scary trying new things as an adult, but Mimi never puts any pressure on her students. At times I worried there wasn’t enough pressure and I wasn’t going to improve, but I just needed to trust the process and Mimi’s teaching- the amount of progress that I made in a very short period of time is amazing. If you told me when I started that I’d be where I’m at now, I don’t think I’d believe you! Mimi teaches in such an eclectic, creative, and inclusive manner. Her classes really are for any individual. In Mimi’s classes we learn, grow, sweat, laugh, and make mistakes all while supporting each other. I found such a wonderful community in her classes. I can’t thank Mimi enough for opening the door to the aerial world for me.
